AWS Prolonged Maintenance

One of our hosting providers has announced an upcoming extended maintenance, scheduled for January 30th. 2023. It’s estimated that it will take up to 8 hours to complete, starting from 11:00 (AM) CET / 10:00 (AM) GMT.

The reason for the maintenance, is to counter the increasing cost of power consumption and network tariffs. Eventually it will impact the customers negatively. The specific provider has decided to move all their racks and server hardware to a new datacenter in the Netherlands. They are signed a new contract with a datacenter in Limburg, with acceptable pricing.

The infrastructure after the move will remain the same, along with all IP-addresses. All customer data will also remain intact, unless something unforeseen happens. Our network will of course provide backup space for additional backup prior to the maintenance.

Services affected by this, are primarily the Secure Gateway hosted affiliates. SecGate will be in touch with all affiliates to inform and perhaps migrate services temporarily.

We trust that our affiliates can see the reason behind the provider’s decision to move their servers to keep costs acceptable. We approve of it, as it helps keeping everything nice and free for our affiliates in the future.
